Social Studies || Week 4 ||

Captain Cook first traveled to New Zealand in 1769 but started looking for New Zealand in 1968.

They reached shore near a river where Gisborne stands today. And meet some members of a Maori tribe.

Captain Cook was eager to meet some Maori people but they never seen a white person before and killed some of the Captain Cooks men

Captain Cook had to kill some Maori people to protect themselves which he felt very sad about

Captain Cook drew the first map of New Zealand by sailing around

Captain Cook became close with the Maori people

Finally after three years Captain Cook returned home

Captain Cook on his third and final journey in 1776 in Hawaii he got killed by an angry warrior
